Included in this cultural exercise would be a special corner with children's story books and artifacts from that culture. The students from that culture could share any stories about family customs or a special recipe. An invitation will be available to parents to visit our special corner to include any tips. The hardest lesson was the drinking (Red Peter realised that such a trick was vital to his evolution). "The odor of it revolted me; I forced myself for it as best I could; however it took weeks will master my repulsion." One man among the crew took it upon himself to see into it that Red Peter mastered the bottle. It is worth quoting at length the good thing about this pedagogic relationship, the awe of student as well as the compassion of teacher. "He would slowly uncork the bottle then look at me to view if I had followed him; I admit that I always watched him with wildly eager, too eager attention; a real student of humankind no human teacher ever available on earth. After the bottle was uncorked he lifted it to his mouth; I followed it with my eyes up to his jaws; he would nod, pleased about me, and hang the bottle to his lips; I, enchanted with my gradual enlightenment, squealed and scratched myself comprehensively wherever scratching was required; he rejoiced, tilted the bottle, and took a drink; I, impatient and needing to emulate him, befouled myself inside my cage, which again gave him great satisfaction; and after that, holding the bottle at arm's length and bringing it up which has a swing, however empty it at one draught, leaning back at an exaggerated angle for my better instruction. I, exhausted by too much effort, could follow him no farther and hung limply on the bars, when he ended his theoretical exposition by rubbing his belly and grinning." While his teacher was repeatedly disappointed, and Red Peter disappointed with this disappointment, both took solace knowing that they were fighting about the same side, struggling with the character of apes within the name of humanity.
